In Memory of Tom Bostock (1939–2025)
It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Mr Tom Bostock, a former President of the Banking & Financial Services Law Association (BFSLA), who died on 2 May 2025. Tom served as the second President of the BFSLA from 1986 to 1988, during which time he brought intellectual rigour, collegiality and strategic vision to the Association’s early years. His leadership helped shape the BFSLA into the respected institution it is today, fostering dialogue and scholarship across the banking law, financial services law and insolvency law communities in Australia and New Zealand. Beyond his professional achievements, Tom was admired for his warmth, generosity and enduring commitment to mentoring younger practitioners. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the standards of excellence he championed. On behalf of the BFSLA community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Tom’s family, friends and colleagues. He will be greatly missed.
