The Banking & Financial Services Law Association (BFSLA) Inc. is bound by the National Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (as amended).
The BFSLA Inc. does not give out personal information about members except as mentioned below, and personal information in our database is protected. BFSLA Inc. does not collect personal information except when it is knowingly provided by members.
Information Collection
BFSLA Inc. collects members' personal information to enable it or third parties to provide membership services and benefits, maintain membership and service/benefit records, provide information and to conduct research to enable the identification and creation of services for the benefit of members.
Primary services provided by BFSLA Inc. to members are:

• Research Essay prize
• Twilight seminars
Information Use and Disclosure
BFSLA Inc. will not disclose members' personal information to others without the member's consent unless such disclosure is authorised or required by law.
BFSLA Inc. will not use email addresses or messages submitted to its web site (with the domain name (www.bfsla.org) for any purpose other than the purpose for which they are submitted and will not disclose them to third parties without the consent of the individual concerned.
Members who are on the Board, participate in Committees, or belong to a special interest group may have their contract information published on the web site and other publications.

When it collects personal information, BFSLA Inc. takes reasonable steps to keep that information secure and to protect that personal information from misuse or loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
